but wait! theres MORE!!

after we dyed eggs, all of the kids wanted to come spend the night at my house. kami came too and brought this super fun game called carcassonne. all though i was REALLY tired, she talked me into joining a game that she was playing with isabel. i LOVED it!! i think we all ended up staying awake until about 1am. (pretty late for a school night i'd say...but completly worth it. some times you just have to sleep in and & skip school for the greater good, like family activities) i'm a huge nerdy fan of board games, like risk and it totally reminded me of risk but easier and more mellow. i'm always trying to round up enough people to play a board game during the holidays and long weekends. usually with no luck. :( anyway, this game was a blast. merv was out of town that night but i told him he has to have kami teach him to play this weekend. (i'm still a little unsure of the rules...)thanks marnie for introducing carcassonne to kami!!

"mama, can i PLEEEEEEASE play too?" poor cody REALLY wanted to play. watching the enchanted movie with makaela & brinley wasn't cutting it for him. (he's not really into princesses... ) so he helped me instead and we let him pretend play with the extras pieces. i felt bad. i think next time i'll let him play for real, even if he doesn't understand all of the rules.
kami just ended up staying the night during for our sleepover. so she got some cuddle time in with the extra cuddley cody, during cartoons. he has always been such a sweet cozy bug. i have to take advantage of it while he's small cause i don't know if he will feel the same way in a few years. :(

awww, aunt kami practicing her domestification/nurturing skillz...

fun with eggs & frostings.

what kind of nut job boils 6 dozen eggs & bakes 2 dozen cookies? i do. arah and i were going to have the kids dye eggs. after finding out becca and the girls would be in town, i ran to the store at about 9:30 pm to buy more eggs & decided on a whim to bake sugar cookies to frost as well.

(the olive-looking egg wins my vote.)
arteests.
cody likes plenty of green sprinkles for added crunch....
mmmmm. yummy.

thanks arah, for playing host. and cleaning up the mess.
can't wait for that mysterious easter bunny to hide them saturday morning. :)

frog rocks rock.

cody made merv a painted bee rock paper weight for fathers day a couple of years ago. he told me he wanted to paint some more rocks. we painted frogs. brinley:this one here's mine.

hey, umm, you got something under your eye...

nothing like waking up to snow on the first day of spring...

i thought all of the snowing was done. thankfully it only stayed for a few hours until the sun came out.

alpha moms

here's to moms who don't apologize for bringing store bought treats to a playgroup, who let their kids watch t.v and play wii, who accept their inability to be a gourmet cook and who don't sweat it if they're little squirt isn't the worlds greatest athlete.

in other news: the tulips are starting to sprout their sweet little heads and my dads yard is full of purple crocuses. we should be dying our annual festive easter eggs some time this week in preperation for a big back yard easter egg hunt saturday. and that is something to look forward too. :)

update: i apologize. this sounds incredibly judgemental so i deleted it.

carnival

cody's school has this huge carnival fundraiser every year. arah's husband matt also went to hutton and said when he was there, they had actual carnival rides outside. mrs. courchaine told me the rides became too much of a liability and had to be taken away. (sounds like everything else fun in life...) so now they do bouncy blow-up rooms and games, raffles, etc. and it is still a huge event. anyway, the carnival was friday night. i had volunteered to run a game booth & merv had school stuff so grandma lana, aunt arah & brinley were gracious enough to bring cody until i could meet up with them.
my booth was the monster bowling booth.

at the face painting booth: cody after much consideration, "hmmm, with all of these options i think i'll go with.... the rainbow please!"
one rainbow coming up.
gee mom! i really love it!!

high rollers

so cody got a birthday invitation yesterday from a friend at school. it read:

*chris is 6!
*come to his bithday party
*3-6pm
*limo will pick kids up from school
and take them to wonderland. (a local kid fun center)

good grief! he's in kindergarten!! what happened to pinatas and birthday cake? those kids are sure going to be dissapointed when cody had his birthday. i'm not one of those moms who is big on chucky cheese style birthdays.

update: so cody went ot the birthday party. i showed up early because i intended on driving him myself, but then i saw the whole class lined up to go and decided he would be fine. when the limo showed up it was like the super deluxe hummer-style-extenda-version. it made me laugh.

vintage cereal

arah & i were browsing around target the other day and came across a cereal box display. general mills has a special going on where they are reintroducing the old school vintage style boxes- lucky charms, kix, honey nut cheerios, etc. i couldn't help myself with the nostalgic appeal so i bought a box. when i got home i discovered on the side of the box they have an ad for promotional $5 t shirts for kids and grownups to. really cool ones with the old cereal logos. you just go to this site and type in "luckytee" when it asks for the code. cody loves them. i bought one for each of us cause we're into that kind of stuff.

update: these came extremly quick, however i was a little dissapointed with the shirts themselves...bummer.
