christmas time is here.

we love christmas break. i seriously don't think i have ever been so mellow and peaceful about christmas season in all of my adult life. i wish there was more time, but i've really tried to let the things go that i can't get too. i've been loving all of the family time, over indulgence of food and decorating with the kids. we have had some super chilly weather but hardly any snow...which i can't say bothers me (...ok, maybe a little on christmas eve/day would be just about right..?) i believe at this time last year we had already been snowboarding.

honestly, it's pretty sad to admit but i rarely pull my camera at home lately (..actually for a long while now. i had a little burn out...and the phone cameras are so handy and convenient!) but this week i have really been trying to break the habit and i remember how enjoyable it is to document life.

merv and cody aren't fans of the camera but lola is always a sport. although there isn't much snow, lola still thinks it's pretty great to dress up in her too-small-hot-pink-snowsuit backwards.
i fell in love with some garland i saw and convinced my mom to help me whip this up this christmasy version on her sewing machine:
..some of the newest additions to the christmas decor, this cute vintage angel:
..and this awesome canvas painted santa that my sweet sister surprised me with. he's really big and i love him:
..also, this south american(?) nativity that i scored at a thrift shop:
...and this advent calendar...which we never actually got around to using. it's meant to have christmas activities and service project ideas written on each one to coincide with the 24 days. next year we'll be all over that. ;)
...of course a few additions to the ever expanding nutcracker collection. i love finding vintage ones the best.
lola can't get enough of the tree. she rearranges the lights ribbons and ornaments daily.. and nightly...

a few new ornament additions: love this stuffed scandinavian horse i got from my aunt julie this summer at the reunion, mostly for sentimental reasons:
 ...this handsome nautical nutcracker:
 ...and this glass squirrel:
i've been using this old dish as nicknack holder forever and decided this year that it is my favorite christmas candle holder:
one of my favorite things has been all of the unexpected visitors, plates and plates of treats...

...and christmas cards. especially this last week- i think we've been getting 3 or 4 a day and i LOVE it!! i think its about time i make another card holder because this ones been bursting at the seams and we have to tape them to the wall.
tonight my mom and sisters and i were all able to spend some quality time together. it's the first time we've been together since corinne moved back to utah. it was heavenly. i am so thankful that all of my siblings will be here during the next little while. i love them.
